Regulating Attention for Positive Growth

“Mindfulness practice can be considered a self-regulation practice: you learn to intentionally self-regulate your attention,” says Jochen Reb, Professor of Organisational Behaviour & Human Resources at Singapore Management University (SMU). Mindfulness is on the rise in tertiary education. A new module at SMU will integrate mindfulness practice with positive psychology to enhance personal mastery and help students to flourish.

13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting: Hideki Shimazu Highlights AUN/SEED-Net’s Successful Collaborative Education Program

Hideki Shimazu, Project Coordinator of AUN/SEED-Net, presented highlights and achievements of AUN/SEED-Net at the 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting in September 2022. In relation to the sub-agenda, “Driving World-Class Study Programme and Student Mobility”, he explained the features and practices from the Collaborative Education Program to show how it enhanced the engineering field within Japan and ASEAN countries.

The 3-week course offers a unique experience in Bornean tropical rainforests of Brunei Darussalam and provides a practical training with an emphasis on building skills and understanding in biodiversity, ecology and conservation of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.

The highlight of the field course is an 8-day research field trip to the Kuala Belalong Field Studies Centre, which is a premier research centre of Universiti Brunei Darussalam and is located within the largest forest reserve in Brunei.

Recently, academic libraries have embraced the pandemic withresilience and have become champions of agility in transforming their services throughstrong leadership.

Developed in collaboration with SMU Libraries, the ASEAN Summer School for EmergingLibrary Leaders is curated as a bespoke programme exclusively for fifteen (15) participantsacross ASEAN.

National Meeting

CALOHEA Project’s National Meetings 2023

The CALOHEA project aims to contribute to the internationalisation of higher education institutions in Southeast Asia through developing a series of interrelated measures that are indispensable for improving recognition of higher education degrees.

The National Meeting (NM) is a major part of CALOHEA dissemination activities. Its objectives are to promote participants’ awareness and understanding of the benefits and how to effectively utilise CALOHEA Recognition Mechanisms to increase and enhance mobility in higher education. Furthermore, NM is a platform to promote internationalisation in higher education among the partners in the ASEAN and EU regions.The first round of NMs will be organised from March-May 2023 in 7 countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Throughout the 7-day training workshop, participants will be coached by AUN-QA trainers, work on a real self-assessment report (SAR) and observe the ‘live’ AUN-QA Programme Assessment at the respective universities.
