Attention all students in Indonesia! An incredible opportunity awaits you to learn from an esteemed scholar and accomplished leader. We are honored to announce that Ms Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, an academic luminary and recipient of numerous prestigious accolades, will be gracing the USLS Opening Ceremony at the United Nations.

In recognition of her exceptional contributions, Ms. Alisjahbana has been honored with the Mahaputra Adipradana Order (Bintang Mahaputra Adipradana) from the Republic of Indonesia. Additionally, she has received honorary brevet from the Indonesian Navy and an honorary flight wing from the Indonesian Air Force. These esteemed recognitions underscore her remarkable achievements and unwavering commitment to her country.

The UN ESCAP is the ideal place to reconvene the much-awaited USLS 2023. As one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations, it stands for the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and is the most inclusive intergovernmental platform in the Asia-Pacific region. The highest-ranking United Nations representative in the Asia-Pacific region, Ms Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana reports directly to the UN Secretary-General Mr António Guterres.

Ms Alisjahbana recognizes the importance of youth engagement and participation in global affairs. The USLS Opening Ceremony celebrates your students’ commitment to promoting the values of the United Nations and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Ms. Alisjahbana has been involved in various research projects and consultancies to the United Nations University/Institute for Advanced Study in Tokyo, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australia, the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), the European Commission, and the International Labor Organization (ILO).

 

Delegates will hear about the Commission’s work in promoting cooperation among its 53 member States and 9 associate members in the pursuit of solutions to sustainable development challenges.
