Tohoku University invites student of ITB to participate at the following student exchange programs:

1. Junior Year Program in English (JYPE)

JYPE is an exchange program that provides an opportunity for overseas undergraduate students to take natural science, engineering, and agricultural courses at Tohoku University, without having to attain the Japanese language proficiency that would be necessary to take the same courses in Japanese.

All lecture are given in English and course credits wil be given as per the standards of the equivalent courses offered in Japanese.

2. International Program in Liberal Arts (IPLA)

IPLA is an exchange program that provide an opportunity for overseas undergraduate students to study a variety of Liberal Arts, Economics, Management, Education and Literature classes at Tohoku University, without having to attain the Japanese language proficiency that would be necessary to take the same courses in Japanese.

All Lecture are given in Enlish and course credits will be given as per the standards of the equivalent courses offered in Japanese.

3. Cooperative Laboratory Study Program (COLABS)

The main purpose of this program is to offer an opportunity for overseas graduate students to conduct research activities on natural science, engineering and agriculture in an assigned laboratory. Students will also take basic education courses taught in English at Tohoku University in order to increas their abilities and expand their knowledge into new scientific fields. Students will not have to attain the Japanese language proficiency that would be necessary to take the same course in Japanese.

4. Direct Enrollment Education Programs (DEEP)

In this program, students study or conduct research at a departement assigned to them depending on their field of study/study plan. Students from university under the departement level agreement are not available to join the DEEP program.

Only students from partner university which has made university level agreement are available to join this program. There are two categories in this program:

1. Special Auditing Student (Undergraduate or graduate students)
Students join the regular courses offered in each departement or graduate school, where the lecture are mostly given in Japanese. Therefore they are required to provide evidence of proficiency in Japanese, such as the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Level N1 or equivalent certification of Japanese proficiency issued by the student’s home university. The certificat(s) should be submitted at the time of application.
2. Special Research Student(Graduate students only)
Students engage in research activities under the supervision of an academic advisor at Tohoku University. They are not always required to provide evidence of proficiency in Japanese, especially in the field of natural science. If the student’s academic advisor agrees to supervise in English, the student will not be required to show proficiency in Japanese.

2. Curriculum Vitae
3. Academic transcript
4. TOEFL or IELTS, with minimum score of: TOEFL 550, IELTS 6,5, iBT 100

Please submit the requirements above to the International Relation Office ITB, Jalan Ganesha No. 17, Bandung due to 18 February  2013, at 14.00 WIB, for further selection process.
