INVITATION: The Straits Times Education Forum, SMU, Thu 10 February 2022, 10am-11.30am

SMU is delighted to be the higher education partner once again, following the successful past events. (View highlights of the 2021 Forum

Today’s universities have evolved into multifaceted organisations with connections to government, businesses, local and global communities. Technologies such as AI and automation have created new industries, new jobs and new ways of working, and universities have to recalibrate their curriculum and pedagogy to ensure their students can thrive in the new economy. What role do you think universities should play to nurture global citizens capable of responding to worldwide challenges?

The Straits Times Education Forum 2022 on “The Evolving Role of Universities” will examine if universities should focus less on what they are good at, and more on what they are good for. Tune in to hear from Education Minister Chan Chun Sing, who will be delivering a keynote address. This will be followed by a panel discussion with Minister, SMU President Professor Lily Kong and OECD Director Andreas Schleicher where they will discuss the changes to come.

The webinar will be moderated by Zakir Hussain, ST Singapore Editor.

A question-and-answer session will follow – do  send your questions ahead of the Forum to https://str.sg/wgve. [2]

As this is a by-invitation-only complimentary event and SMU have limited seats on a first-come-first-served basis, we would encourage you to
register promptly to avoid disappointment.
