The University of Tokyo Summer Internship Program in Kashiwa (UTSIP Kashiwa)

UTSIP Kashiwa

provides hands-on research internship opportunities in the fields of natural sciences and social sciences.
offers lectures from world-leading researchers at GSFS.
is a seven-week summer program for academically motivated undergraduate students.
provides a scholarship and accommodations.

 

All participants will be assigned to a laboratory in which he/she is interested to work and will conduct a research project under the guidance of a faculty member or senior graduate students. Participants will also experience Japanese culture and world-leading Japanese technology through weekend events and a field trip.

Financial Aid

 UTSIP provides a UTSIP scholarship to participants that includes:
Scholarship for living expenses (JPY 110,000)
Partial subsidy for your air fare (up to JPY 50,000)

When participants are selected, a UTSIP scholarship is also guaranteed.

If you have applied or will apply for a different scholarship, please mention this on the Application page. If a participant receives scholarship from another institution or organization, UTSIP will adjust the amount of UTSIP scholarship accordingly. Accommodations will still be provided to all participants.

Regarding air travel, participants are, in principle, expected to arrive in Japan one day before the program start date, and leave Japan one day after the program end date.

How to apply

Step 1:      Choose Program A or B

Step 2:      Choose a professor/laboratory to work in from the host laboratory list

Step 3:      Apply through the UTSIP online application system

 

1. Program period

2017 UTSIP will offer two different program schedules. UTSIP students can join either program A or B.

Program A           June 5 (Mon) to July 14 (Fri), 2017

Program B           June 26 (Mon) to August 4 (Fri), 2017
