This page provides information about scholarship programs for ITB graduating students / alumni / staff who are interested in pursuing a higher academic degree (such as a master’s degree / doctoral degree) or a short-term study/research abroad. These scholarship programs are programs that are made possible based on a partnership between ITB and an international institution or a membership of ITB in an international network or association. Global Connect Scholarship (Australia)

The Global Connect Scholarship is a scholarship program (in the form of 25% tuition reduction) offered by the University of Queensland (UQ) for eligible students from ITB who commence an approved pathway program at UQ.

For 2022 admission, eligible students from ITB are students enrolled in the Chemical Engineering Study Program (Undergraduate, International Class) who will have completed their 2nd year of study at ITB (or a total of 4 semesters) by the 2nd semester of 2021/2022 academic year and who have been admitted to pursue a pathway program at UQ (Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Chemical Engineering). Students will spend 2 – 2.5 years at UQ (with all the requirements fulfilled) before receiving a degree from UQ. The tuition for 2022 is AUS$ 46,120 / year (the scholarship will be worth 25% of this amount). Interested students should contact their Study Program (Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, International Class) on how to be nominated for the Scholarship.

Ernst Mach Grants (Austria)

No pre-selection by ITB

The Ernst Mach Grants program is a scholarship program by the ASEA-UNINET (ASEAN European Academic Network), where ITB has been a member, for study in Austria. There are four types of grants: Post-doc Grants, PhD-Grants, Sandwich-Grants, and Music Grants. The annual deadline is usually March 1.

ASEA-UNINET supports the exchange of knowledge between partner universities in the member countries in Europe and South-East Asia. The main activity of the network is the organization and financial support of the exchange of scientists and postgraduates and the transfer of knowledge associated with this.The funding is organized by the OeAD-GmbH/MPC in cooperation with ASEA-UNINET (on behalf of and financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research – BMBWF). 

Applications are open to postgraduates who have obtained a master degree (including master thesis) or a doctoral degree (or equivalent degree) in various fields (including e.g. Natural Sciences, Technical Sciences, Human Medicine, Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts) as well as to undergraduates and graduates in the field of music practice (only).

Another scholarship program that is promoted under the ASEA-UNINET is the Indonesia-Austria Scholarship Program for a doctoral study. The annual deadline is usually March 31.

ASEAN University Network-related Scholarships (China)

ITB is a member of the ASEAN University Network (AUN). There are two categories of scholarships under the cooperation between AUN and China: China-AUN Scholarship and ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship (both are scholarship programs to study in China).

China-AUN Scholarship (for applicants pursuing Master’s or Doctoral degrees)

The China-AUN Scholarship is a scholarship programme under the ASEAN-China Academic Cooperation and Exchange Programme in cooperation with China Scholarship Council (CSC) with the financial support of the Ministry of Education of P.R. China. Initiated in 2008, this programme offers 30 full scholarships annually to citizens from ASEAN member countries to pursue their Master’s and Doctoral degrees in China.” (more information can be found here).

ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship (for applicants pursuing Master’s or Doctoral degrees + for short-term research scholars; at least 1 year of professional work experience required before applying)

The ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship Program (ACYLS) is an initiative in response to the call of the Leaders of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and ASEAN Member States (AMS) to increase people-to-people exchanges, strengthen educational cooperation and promote academic exchanges and linkages between AMS and the PRC, in an effort to foster a third pillar of socio-cultural and people-to-people exchanges within ASEAN-China relationship towards building a closer community of shared future.” (more information can be found here).

Hokkaido University President’s Fellowship (Japan)

Pre-selection by ITB

The Hokkaido University President’s Fellowship is a fellowship program for ITB’s graduating students or alumni to pursue a master’s, doctoral, or professional degree at Hokkaido University as part of the partnership between ITB and Hokkaido University. Each year, there is only 1 candidate that will be nominated by ITB to Hokkaido University.

TUM Asia Scholarship (Singapore)

TUM Asia is a branch campus of Technische Universität München (Technical University of Munich, Germany), ranked the #1 German university in the QS World University Rankings 2022. TUM Asia Scholarship is a one-time 50% subsidy of the published tuition fee for successful awardee(s) to support their study of one of following master’s degree programs (check the website for tuition fee) offered by TUM Asia:

  • Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering (TUM Degree)
  • Master of Science in Green Electronics (TUM-NTU Joint Degree)
  • Master of Science in Industrial Chemistry (TUM-NUS Joint Degree)
  • Master of Science in Integrated Circuit Design (TUM-NTU Joint Degree)
  • Master of Science in Rail, Transport and Logistics (TUM Degree)

General Criteria for candidates:

  • A full-time active undergraduate student at ITB, who satisfies all necessary postgraduate admission requirements to one of the above mentioned programs
  • A final year ITB student, with outstanding academic results as of the latest semester.
  • Having submitted an application with TUM Asia via the application portal.
  • Financially capable of completing the Master of Science program in TUM Asia (financially able to pay the remaining tuition fees that are not covered under the scholarship)

Application Period to TUM Asia (Direct Application to TUM Asia): October 1 – March 31 (for 1-time intake in August). Make sure you submit all the documents as specified here. ITB applicants will automatically be considered for the scholarship after completing the application. In addition, those who have received the 50% tuition scholarship are also eligible to apply for the TUM Asia DAAD Scholarship Scholarship, awarded to students on a per-semester basis (providing tuition fee support and a monthly allowance).

IE University provides a 40% tuition fee scholarship for ITB graduates to pursue a master’s study at a selected program at IE University. The application period runs on a rolling basis.

Candidate Requirements

  • Be a graduating student or graduate at ITB;
  • Be admitted to a Master´s Degree program in IE;
  • Demonstrate English proficiency with a valid TOEFL or IELTS test score (TOEFL iBT minimum score of 100 / IELTS minimum score of 7.0), unless waived by IE´s Admissions department.
  • Demonstrate an excellent academic record;
  • Formally apply for this Scholarship Program on or before the following deadlines:
    • for Full Time Master´s Degree programs: at least three (3) months in advance from the start date of the targeted program;
    • for Part Time Master´s Degree programs: at least two (2) months in advance from the start date of the targeted program.

Jardine Scholarship (United Kingdom)

Pre-selection by ITB

ITB partners with the Jardine Foundation for the Jardine Scholarship Program. It is a scholarship programs for those intending to study in the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) at the master’s level or at the doctoral level. ITB will conduct a pre-selection process to get candidates that will be nominated to the Jardine Foundation. The typical process is as follows:

  1. Application to IRO ITB (until mid-June)
  2. Interview facilitated by IRO ITB (mid to end of June)
  3. Recommendation of Candidates by IRO ITB to Jardine Foundation (end of June)
  4. Interview by Jardine Foundation (August)
  5. Confirmation of Finalists by Jardine Foundation (August)
  6. Application by Finalists to the University of Oxford / University of Cambridge (September – November)
  7. Announcement of acceptance by the University of Oxford / University of Cambridge (January – April). Note: not all finalists will receive the scholarship
  8. Start of the study (October)

Knight-Hennessy Scholars (United States)

No pre-selection by ITB

The Knight-Hennessy Scholars (KHS) program is a scholarship program to pursue a graduate study (master / doctoral) at Stanford University. ITB partners with the KHS program in the dissemination of information to students and alumni of ITB and has access to the applications submitted to the KHS program.
