Osaka University would inform you of Qualifications about Japanese Ability on Japanese Studies Students (Nikkensei) program by Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) Scholarship for 2020-2021 beforehand.
Since 2019 fall enrollment, the Nikkensei program has been designed that applicants must have Japanese language proficiency Level N2 or higher of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test(JLPT) for Japanese Language Ability as Qualifications.
This new Qualification has been determine by Japanese Government (MEXT). Thus applicants, who do not have Japanese language proficiency Level N2 of JLPT at the selection, should be rejected despite their application.
Besides, even if applicants have not received the certificates for Japanese language proficiency Level N2 at the time of application yet, they can apply for this program, if they have N3 and their supervisors instructing Japanese language recognize their Japanese language proficiency is equal to Level N2 or higher.
In such a case, Osaka University will send you our prescribed “Japanese Language Proficiency Verification” form, thus Osaka University would ask applicants’ supervisors instructing Japanese language to fill it out and submit it back by post.
