Humanitarian and Emergency Logistics Expo (HELIX) on 20-22 May 2021

We are pleased to transmit herewith invitation letter to the Humanitarian and Emergency Logistics Expo (HELIX) 2021, a joint event by AHA Centre and the Viet Nam Disaster Management Authority (VNDMA), supported by the Government of Japan as part of the Disaster Emergency Logistics System for ASEAN (DELSA) Project under the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund, which will be held virtually on 20-25 May 2021.

The Expo aims to identify the needs and challenges in humanitarian logistics among National Disaster Management Organisations and ASEAN as well as to further explore how the latest innovations in the logistics supply chain can contribute to resolving those challenges. This Expo also serves as a platform for discussion and networking among humanitarian logistics practitioners, vendors and suppliers, academics, professionals and studies in the region.

To engage the youth, the Expo will include competitions targeting ASEAN youth and students, namely:

(i) iPitch, an innovation pitching competition, whereby participants present their innovative ideas/solutions to address current/emerging problems in humanitarian logistics; and

(ii) AHAckathon, where youths participate in a 2-day hackathon competition to solve a humanitarian logistics issue using by developing online applications.

Winners of the iPitch and AHAkaton will be given a chance to go to Singapore and Indonesia for the learning events, tentatively in 2022.

The AHA Centre is reaching out to AUN member universities to tap into their students to participate in the series of events. The central place to access all information about HELIX, including registration to the different events, is available at www.helix.ahacentre.org.

The Centre is also planning to conduct a meeting with members of AUN for a brief orientation on the below schedules.
