Fellowships & Scholarships for MPhil and PhD Studies at The University of Hong Kong 2021-2022
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has set up various Fellowships and Scholarships for outstanding students from universities all over the world to pursue full-time PhD studies at HKU. For example, the prestigious and generous HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship scheme (HKU-PS) awards up to around HK$414,000 in the first year, and up to around HK$394,000 in each of the subsequent years during the normative study period plus conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$13,300 (US$1,700) per year.

– University Postgraduate Fellowships (UPF)
Fellowships of HK$70,000 (US$8,970) for the entire normative period of study plus Postgraduate Scholarships per year for selected full-time PhD candidates with excellent academic record.
Application: Applicants who have submitted applications to HKPF will be automatically considered for the award of UPF. Separate applications to UPF are not required. HKPF awardees will not be concurrently awarded UPF and PGS.

– Postgraduate Scholarships (PGS)
Scholarships currently at not less than HK$216,360 (US$27,730) per year for qualified full-time MPhil (2 years) and PhD (3 to 4 years) candidates.

Financial Support for Conference Attendance/Travel
Financial support for students to attend international conferences or exchange programmes. Students may also be offered opportunity to spend part of their study period away from campus to gain more exposure.
Eligibility
Applicants should have a first degree or equivalent with excellent academic records. Students in their final year of undergraduate study may also apply.
