The Successful 8th CALOHEA National Meeting at Universitas Hasanuddin

What does it take to achieve academic mobility at a massive, international scale? No matter the answer, CALOHEA is determined to achieve the goal of developing a large-scale student exchange and academic mobility in Asia. The National Meetings will bring together experts, university staff, and even students to enlighten each other with good practices, sharing experiences, and understand the 3 Recognition Mechanisms that will pave the way towards the ultimate qualifications framework for each nation that will take student and academic mobility in Asia to the next level. With sufficient time passing since NMs have begun earlier this year, the 8th CALOHEA NM from the 10th and 11th of August at Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS) has shown the successful outputs of CALOHEA becoming more apparent with UNHAS demonstrating curriculum improvements with a dedicated focus on student workload calculation.

The Wait is Over! Universiti Malaya’s International Masters in Human Development Programme Now Ready for Launch

An exciting update from Universiti Malaya! Dr. Welyne Jeffrey Jehome, anthropologist and senior lecturer from Universiti Malaya, together with Dr. Bob Aubrey, founder and chair of the advisory board of the ASEAN Human Development Organization (AHDO), revealed in the 14th AUN Rectors’ Meeting that Universiti Malaya’s International Masters in Human Development Programme is now ready for launch. This international master programme conceived in 2021 aims to nurture professionals who will put human development into practice at their respective organisations. After two years in the making, the door will now open for the future champion of human development in ASEAN.

Welcoming More First Time Onsite Assessments, AUN-QA Overview: The 337th, 338th, 339th, 340th AUN-QA Programme Assessments

During COVID-19, AUN-QA has assessed many universities in an online or hybrid format. Now, it has been nearly one year since the pandemic has simmered down, allowing the return of onsite programme assessments. As a result, many universities that were assessed online during the peak of the pandemic are now rounding back to their turn once more, but this time being onsite, therefore bringing this continued influx of many universities having their first onsite programme assessment with AUN-QA!

Accounting for the future

In 2013, researchers at Oxford University predicted that accountants stood a 95 percent chance of having their jobs replaced by AI. However, Professor Cheng Qiang has observed that AI serves to automate much of the mundane and repetitive work in accountancy, freeing up accountants with up-to-date technical skills to focus on activities that create value for clients. In turn, this has instead resulted in many accounting firms desperately looking for people with up to date technical skills.

Chulalongkorn’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Presents Plant-Based Biopharmaceutical Research to Combat Cancer Cells in Lab Animals

For the first time in Thailand, lecturers at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences have successfully developed antibodies from tobacco plants with inhibitory effects on the growth of cancer cells in laboratory animals. This signals hope for access to effective cancer medication and treatment at a lower cost.

ACYLS offers ASEAN Nationals full scholarship to further their doctoral and master’s degree programmes in 22 top Chinese Universities, covering all program-related expenses including tuition waiver and other school fees, accommodation, round-trip international air fare, comprehensive medical insurance and stipends.
