2016 Kumamoto University Summer Program
The Summer Program consists of two courses, an English course (conducted in English) and a Japanese Course (conducted in Japanese), and consists of classroom lectures on Japanese life and culture, first-hand cultural learning experiences, guided educational field trips to famous sites within Kumamoto prefecture, and Japanese language classes (Japanese Course only).
The dates for each course are as follows.
English Course: July 20 – July 28, 2016 (9 days)
Japanese Course: July 28 – August 9, 2016 (13 days)

The maximum number of participants for each course is 40 students. A selection will be held if Kumamoto receive a large amount of applications, the results of which will be announced at a later date.
The participation fee is 60,000 Japanese yen for the English course, and 80,000 Japanese yen for the Japanese course. The program fee includes accommodation, class fees, field trip fees, and breakfast. It does not include the cost of transportation to or from Japan, the cost of transportation within Japan, or the cost of meals (other than breakfast) during the program.
Fee payments and scholarship awards will be conducted at Kumamoto University after the participants’ arrival in Japan.
Participants who meet the necessary qualifications are eligible to receive a government scholarship worth 80,000 Japanese Yen, provided by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), for their own personal use.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have a GPA greater than or equal to 2.3, and not receive any other scholarships for this program which exceed 80,000 Japanese Yen. Please note that there are a limited number of scholarships available. Scholarships will be awarded based on the Letter of Recommendation submitted by ITB.
