The beauty of difference: Saving our cultural heritage

Industrial Engineering Department of Parahyangan Catholic University (Indonesia) in collaboration with University of Technology Sydney (Australia) organize Asia-Pacific Design Challenge (APDeC) 2013 in Bandung, Indonesia.

Inviting participants with interests and talents in design, whether they are students, academia, professionals or researchers, from all around the world especially from Asia-Pacific countries to take part in APDeC 2013.

APDeC 2013 is an internationally-oriented event where designers gather and participate in design competition (for undergraduate students), workshops, and exhibition. This event will provide a venue for its participants to learn the state-of-the-art design practices, discuss and answer design challenges and display their creative design artworks. Additionally, the event can also be considered as a chance for a design community with common interests to meet and engage with each other in a focused and
interactive discussion.

DESIGN COMPETITIONS (for UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS):
There are two types of competition: Design Challenge (DeC) and Cultural Design Competition (CuDeC).

The Design Challenge (DeC) will take place in the form of a 48-hours challenge (from idea to prototype). The selected groups of participants (based on their design portfolio) will be given a particular design problem/project to be solved. The groups will be challenged to finish the project from formulating design ideas to creating prototypes in 48 hours. The CAD software provided is SolidWorks. However, participants are allowed to bring their own portable computers with their own preferred CAD software.

PRIZES:
1st CONCEPT Winner = USD 1,200
2nd CONCEPT Winner = USD 900
1st PROTOTYPE Winner = USD 1,200
2nd PROTOTYPE Winner = USD 900

The Cultural Design Competition (CuDeC) will provide an excellent opportunity for selected designers with specialization in cultural design to showcase and compete their design artworks that answer the challenge of preserving the cultural heritage.

(Individual) 1st Winner = USD 700, 2nd Winner = USD 500
(Group) 1st Winner = USD 900, 2nd Winner = USD 600

Cultural Design Competition (CuDeC):

Design Challenge (DeC): USD 350/IDR 3.500.000 (including university accommodation)
Cultural Design Competition (CuDeC): USD 75/IDR 750.000 (Individual) or USD 150/IDR 1.500.000 (Group)
