Summer Programmes at Girton College, University of Cambridge
Girton College is one of the 31 constituent colleges of the University of Cambridge, and I wanted to share with you information about our 4-week Summer Programmes which are open to current undergraduate students from any university. These programmes are a great opportunity to learn from academics experienced in teaching Cambridge undergraduates, and experience the UK education system, its learning style, and the beautiful historic city of Cambridge.
Girton College are planning for these (2022 Summer Programmes) to be residential programmes, but will continue monitoring events and if the need arises Girton College will be able to deliver these academic programmes online.
Girton College wanted to highlight Engineering programme, which features three modules that Cambridge has a particularly strong reputation in: Nanotechnology, Quantum Technologies, and the Jet Engine.
The Engineering Summer Programme will take place 17 July – 13 August 2022 and the programme page, including a link to the syllabus, is: https://www.girton.cam.ac.uk/engineering-summmer-programme
This fee includes:
- The academic course, comprising a minimum of 45 hours of contact time on the Economics and Engineering programmes, and a minimum of 60 hours of contact time on the Business programme
- A series of evening talks
- Accommodation in a single occupancy study bedroom on the main College site
- Approximately two meals per day in Cambridge
- A welcome buffet, two Formal Dinners, and an English Afternoon Tea
- Access to College facilities
- Student Assistant-organised social programme. Past activities have included punting and museum visits
- Day trips to London and Oxford
Students will need to cover the following additional costs:
- International travel and medical insurance
- Travel to/from their home to Girton College, Cambridge
- Travel within Cambridge
- Approximately one meal per day while in Cambridge
- Meals and any activity fees while on the London and Oxford day trips
- Any social activities, personal expenditure, or independent travel.
