Delivered in partnerships: Making a difference by working together

How technology universities continue to combat regional and world issues through collaboration

The World Technology Universities Network (WTUN) are proud to launch this year’s annual World Technology Universities Congress (WTUC 2021) which will be hosted virtually by a collection of WTUC member institutions.

The main objective at WTUN is to promote collaboration between technology universities worldwide, in order to help solve major world challenges and educate the next generation of world leaders. The WTUC is the annual meeting of the Network at which senior leadership, professional services and academic representatives of WTUC members meet to discuss the challenges facing the world and the responsibilities of technology institutions to respond to these challenges. WTUC are strong supporters of diversity enhancing these conversations and so attendance at WTUC is open to non-member universities, industry representatives as well as those from government and NGOs.

After an unprecedented year, the Network will this year explore various themes that will be delivered in partnership across WTUC sessions. The University of Bradford will explore how global universities are a growing importance to their localities, whilst National Taiwan University of Science and Technology will showcase practices of University Social Responsibility across the world.

In line with the Network’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Ahlia University will be hosting sessions around Climate Action presenting the views from academics, industry and hosting WTUC first Student Debate, whilst King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thornburi will be sharing initiatives in Energy System Transformation for a Carbon Neutral Future. With less than 10 years to go until the 2030 deadline of these goals, Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences will be inviting speakers to give the view from their country, on their progress and whether WTUC can still achieve the targets. WTUC will also be awarding WTUC Fellowship Awards and giving the winning teams from WTUC annual Student Competition and Inaugral Hackathon the chance to present their fantastic ideas.

WTUC 6th Congress will run from Monday 18th – Thursday 21st October 2021. The event is free to attend and delegates will be able to attend as many sessions as they wish online. Further information on dates, times and speakers is available at website www.wtu-n.net/2021-congress/. along with the registration link for the event.
