Program Goals
The aim of the International Program of Geoinformatics is mainly to cultivate senior analysts, managers, engineers, and researchers who can lead research or development projects of applying Geoinformatics to analyze social or natural phenomena, or solve spatial problems, or fit human’s need. Abilities or skills that students will gain for this program include measuring geographic distribution, analyzing spatial patterns, and modeling spatial relationships as well as application of spatial information technology to collect spatial data, process and analyze data, and web mapping data in various devices. More specific goals of the program are as follows:
- To produce quality doctoral graduates who possess integral knowledge on Geoinformatics and practical technologies.
- To foster abilities of original researches on spatial topics and issues.
- To offer an opportunity to work with senior analysts and IT engineers from Geographic Information System Research Center (GIS.FCU) through practical projects and participate in industrial internship programs in Taiwan.
- To train advanced engineers who can apply Geoinformatics-related technologies to fit fast-growing LBS demands of the future.
