Kumamoto University Short-Term Exchange Program 2013
Kumamoto University Short-Term Exchange Program is designed for students who are enrolled full-time at a university abroad and have foreign citizenship. The program offer undergraduate foreign students, who are interested in the Japanese language, Japanese and Asian society and culture, advanced science and technology, and interactions with foreign students, the chance to study for up to a year in Japan while still retaining their ful-time status at their home universities. The university also hopes that the program will promote exchange between university students from foreign countries and Japanese university students.
Available Course
- Course I (Short-Term Exchange Program I) ~> For third year undergraduate students
- Course II (Short-Term Exchange Program II) ~> for undergraduated student
Deadline for Submission of Applications
- For attendance starting in October, 2013: Must by the end of april, 2013
- For attendance starting in April, 2014: Must by the end of November, 2013
Period of Acceptance
Students re accepted for a term of a half or one year that starts in either October or April of any given calendar year.
Applicant Qualifications
Course I (Short-Term Exchange Program I)
- As a general rule, applicant should currently be full-time 3rd-year undergraduate students at universities that have a student exchange agreement with Kunamoto University, and must have foreign citizenship.
- applicants should be physically and emotionally capable of completing their studies.
- having English ability equivalent to a TOEFL iBT score of 61 or more
Course II (Short-Term Exchange Program II)
- Applicants should currently be full-time undergraduate students at universities that have a studentexchange agreement with Kumamoto University, and must have foreign citizenship
- applicants should be physically and emotionally capable of completing their studies

- Certificate of Enrolment (Issued by home university)
- Academic Record (Official home university transcript)
- Letter of Recomendation
- Health Certificate
- four photographs (40 mm X 30mm)
- Copy of first page of applicants passport
- certificate of citizenship from applicants home country (copy of verification of nationality obtainable from local govermment offices)
- bank statement of applicant or parents (needed to verify that the application can support him/herself while Japan)
- Copy of TOEFL score non-native English speakers of Certificate of English Ability equivalent to a TOEFL iBT score of 61)
Tuition
admision, examination feesand tuition payment to Kumamoto University will be waived as long as the number of students does not exceed the maximum number allowed by university or departement level student axchange agreements.
