Grace’s Story: Experiencing NUS Business School’s Summer Programme in Singapore

Every year, ITB students get the opportunity to join various international programs to broaden their academic and cultural horizons. One of these opportunities is the
Xperience NUS Business School Summer Programme,
which offers a unique glimpse into graduate-level business education in Asia’s top university.

Grace, an Urban and Regional Planning student from ITB, shares her story after joining this programme held at National University of Singapore (NUS)
from July 9–11, 2025.

“The lectures we had were really insightful, especially for me with a background in engineering. I’m personally inspired to pursue a master’s degree in finance—especially here at NUS B’School.”

Student Story

Hi everyone! I’m Olive from Urban and Regional Planning ’22 and I’m really glad to share how I spent my short summer break in Singapore with NUS Business School!

I initially discovered this programme through IRO ITB’s broadcast, and it immediately caught my interest. The selection process required several academic documents, including a motivation letter, and I couldn’t believe that I was accepted.

Overall, this summer programme offered third-year undergraduate students a firsthand look at the MSc courses in NUS B’School. We had lectures on marketing, human capital management, finance, and sustainable & green finance, all taught by prominent professors!

This experience is truly memorable for me, since I got the opportunity to attend classes from the top university in Asia. The lectures we had were really insightful, especially for me with a background in engineering (multidisciplinary though). I am personally inspired to pursue a master’s degree in finance, especially here at NUS B’school. I totally agree with those who say it’s great to pursue a degree in finance after earning your Bachelor of Engineering!

One of the best part of joining this summer programme was meeting the other 48 participants from 5 different countries in SEA! I made friends with fellow undergraduate students from Indonesia, The Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Since we also came from diverse major background, we had a ton of sharing moments about our own fields of study.

Beyond classes and networking, I also want to highlight our company visits to Mastercard Asia Pacific and BNP Paribas. At Mastercard’s HQ, we were introduced to digital technologies in the payment industry, this really taught me on how our daily payments work. During our visit to BNP Paribas, an asset management company, we had a panel discussions with stakeholders on sustainable and green finance topics. These company visits were unforgettable!

The last thing (not actually the last, since I had too many memories to share) I love about participating in this programme is the free time after a long day of academic activities! We pretty much only had free times after 6 p.m. and we were supposed to be in class every morning at 8 a.m. Even though we were exhausted, we still decided to go on outings every night! We went to Chinatown, Gardens by the Bay, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, and also NUS’s University Town!

That’s all I can share from this post, I hope more ITB undergraduate students will participate in various summer programmes, especially the one held by NUS Business School! Finally, huge thanks to IRO ITB and NUS Business School for providing this extraordinary Xperience!
