From Art to Impact: Muhammad Luqman’s Story – IISMA 2022 at Universidad de Granada

IISMA journey in 300 words

Art and culture have an incredible ability to connect people. Realizing how diverse we are and how God created numerous things shows that as humans, we must be inquisitive to discover new parts of the world. As a result, IISMA can be an excellent first step toward a wide range of fresh experiences.

Studying as an art student in Indonesia has increased my appreciation for all forms of art and culture. European culture is always distinct, notably in terms of architecture. Living abroad for an exchange program in Europe seems to be a magical world. Every section of the city is mesmerized by Romasque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture.

Spanish culture was adequately introduced to me at the Universidad de Granada. Begin with the accessible courses that demonstrate a link between language, art, and politics in a clear historical timeline. They also gave a complimentary study excursion for most of the weekend. We visited numerous historical cities in southern Spain, including Malaga, Cordoba, Sevilla, and others. Additionally, we had several Spanish performances in our faculty building, including flamenco. It’s astonishing that I’ve arrived in Spain with no knowledge of the language. And now I can confidently state that I am knowledgeable enough to hold a conversation in Spanish.

Aside from that, my conscience always calls me to be beneficial to society. I had the opportunity to teach English to the elderly through a collaboration with the local government. What a fantastic opportunity to provide entertaining social services through a volunteer program.

And, after everything I’ve gone through, I plan to dedicate my experience to making a contribution to my community. Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards takes me beyond my imagination and encourages me to dream big.
