Invitation to participate in the Crown Prince CIPTA Award Competition 2021
The Crown Prince CIPTA (Creative, Innovative Products and Technological Advancement) Award is a biennial competition organized by Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) in partnership with Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd since its inauguration in 2005. Since its introduction, the competition has attracted innovators and inventors ranging from students to industry practitioners. The theme for the Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2021 competition is Innovations for Society 5.0 which emphasizes on multi-dimensional technological innovations to reach out to the needs of the global society.
The competition is divided into two categories, local and ASEAN categories. The ASEAN category was first introduced in 2015, with its objectives to foster collaborative linkages with the ASEAN region and also to provide opportunity for healthy competition and benchmarking between the local competitors with its ASEAN counterparts.
The ASEAN Category is open to participants from ASEAN countries other than Brunei Darussalam. It has two sub-categories namely:
- New Invention and Innovation Category
- Young Inventor Category
The New Invention and Innovation Category covers the invention of a new product, process or technology as well as a modification(s) to any existing product, process or technology, that can improve or enhance its functionality or quality. This competition is open to individuals as well as teams from Science, Technology and Engineering fields. The Best Invention and Innovation Award which carries a cash prize of BND 6000.00 and a certificate will be awarded to the winner of this category.
Meanwhile, the Young Inventor Category is open to upper secondary students or pre-university (age of 15 to 18 years old by 1st February 2021). This category covers the invention of a new product, process or technology as well as a modification(s) to any existing product, process or technology, that can improve or enhance its function or quality. The Best Young Inventor Award which carries a cash prize BND 3000.00 and a certificate will be awarded to the winner of this category. The entry fees for the ASEAN categories are:
- USD 200 for New Invention and Innovation Category; and
- USD 100 for Young Inventors Category
There will be a Webinar conducted via Zoom to explain about the competition which will be held as follows:
