Focusing in on Student Workload Calculation at the 8th CALOHEA National Meeting at UNHAS

Student workload calculation is a major concern for many universities around the world. Institutions need to make sure the work put in by students is being correctly calculated and properly credited. For the 8th round of the CALOHEA National Meeting, the focus is entirely on this issue as experts, lecturers, and even students, will come together to partake in the discussion of this matter. Following this will be the workshop where participants will get to be acquainted with the Recognition Mechanisms of the CALOHEA project where they will hammer down not only the issues of student workload calculation, but everything related to the process of a large-scale global student exchange and mobility!

The 14th AUN Rectors’ Meeting: ASEAN Higher Education, the Change-Maker

The 14th AUN Rectors’ Meeting was convened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 5 July 2023, with gracious hosting from Universiti Malaya. After various discussions on ‘changes’ that are happening in the educational landscape and the expectation of the people, the 3rd panel discussion positioned ASEAN higher education as the ‘change-maker’ itself. Bestowed with talents and potentials as it is, the door is wide open for ASEAN higher education to extend its influence and be the driver for greater goods in the global community.

18th AUNILO Meeting: Insights and Initiatives Propel Academic Library Collaboration

Notably, the event featured a formal handover of the Secretariat role from the Philippines to Singapore, marking a significant transition. AUN-QA Special Feature (337th PA): Universitas Sam Ratulangi and the Powerful Philosophy of “Sitou Timou Tumou Tou”“Sitou Timou Tumou Tou”, which means “Humans live to humanize other humans”, is the philosophy of Universitas Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT) that is well reflected within the mindset and culture of the community that thrives at UNSRAT. NUS scientists develop plant-based cell culture scaffold for cheaper, more sustainable cultured meat

A research team from the National University of Singapore (NUS) has successfully used common plant proteins to 3D-print an edible cell culture scaffold, allowing more affordable and sustainable lab-grown meat to be served on the table. As consumers become more conscious of the environmental and ethical ramifications of their food, lab-grown meat or cultured meat is becoming an increasingly popular source of dietary protein. “By using readily available cereal prolamins as biomaterials for high-precision 3D printing technology, we open up a new method for manufacturing edible and structured scaffolds to produce cultured muscle meat slices with fibrous qualities,” said Professor Huang Dejian, Deputy Head of the NUS Department of Food Science and Technology.
