Application procedure at Hochschule Ulm – Fall semester 2017

fall-semester 2018/19 (September/October – December/February).

Hochschule Ulm are offering two different kind of English taught programs: The 3-month programs (IEP) and the full semester programs. The detailed brochures for the English taught programs can be found on webpage:

www.hs-ulm.de/internationals (Downloads).

Hochschule Ulm will update the brochures constantly but students can use the 2017-version of the brochures. The courses will remain the same in all programs, it might only be that Hochschule Ulm can offer additional courses.

 

  1. 3-Month-Programs during the fall semester

 

International Mechanical Engineering Program

During the fall semester Hochschule Ulm offer a Mechanical Engineering Program (IMEP) which runs from October till December. The Computer and Electrical Engineering Programs (ICEP and IEEP) are offered in our spring semester from April till June.

 

  1. Semester Program

Hochschule Ulm are offering several semester programs in different departments.
Please note: Semester Programs means that courses start at the beginning of October and end in Mid-February

Mixing those courses with the IMEP program will not be possible. The complete list of English taught courses can be found in the annex.

 

  1. Practical trainings / internships / final thesis

Students could also come to HS Ulm and do a practical semester/project work in one of our laboratories. This can also be done in the framework of a Bachelor or Master thesis. In this case Hochschule Ulm would need to get some information on the student’s interests and qualification. The students may have a look on the different institutes on Hochschule Ulm web-page and let Hochschule Ulm know in which research field you are interested in. Please send Hochschule Ulm beforehand a scanned letter of motivation, a CV and a transcript of records so that Hochschule Ulm can ask different professors in Hochschule Ulm faculties to find a suitable tutor.

 

  1. German taught programs:

Students who speak German can study in any of our Bachelor Programs. The module description of the German taught classes can be found here

Students should have at least a German level of B2.

 

  1. Master programs

Students with a Bachelor degree or an equivalent of minimum 210 ECTS are welcome to select courses form our Master programs.

 

In the annex I am enclosing Hochschule Ulm fact sheet with more detailed information and a list of Hochschule Ulm English taught lectures. Students may also download the newest version on Hochschule Ulm Webpage www.hs-ulm.de/internationals  (Downloads).

 

 

Application:

Students should be nominated by their home universities first.

Please send your:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  2. Academic transcript
  3. TOEFL or IELTS, with minimum score of: TOEFL 550, IELTS 6,5, iBT 100
  4. Motivation letter

to the International Relation Office ITB, Jalan Ganesha No. 17, Bandung due to 28 February 2018, at 14.00 WIB, for further selection process.

German language certificate is not required but the students should be able to follow lectures in German (B2 level).

 

Language course:

Hochschule Ulm are offering an intensive language course during 2 weeks in September. During the semester Hochschule Ulm are offering additional language courses in 4 different levels. The participation in the semester language courses is mandatory for all exchange students.

 

Housing:

Hochschule Ulm will do their best to provide housing in one of their student dormitories regarding the wishes, the students mark in the housing request form. However, the situation in Ulm has become very difficult and they can not guarantee that they will find housing for all students. If students are able to find an accommodation by themselves they should let Hochschule Ulm know as soon as possible.

After the students have been accepted by the corresponding department of Hochschule Ulm university, they will receive a letter with general information, an admission letter and some important information concerning their arrival and their stay in Ulm. Please do remind that you should arrive on the given dates and be present at the registration days.
