Tohoku University Engineering Short Program 2026

 

 

 

Tohoku University Engineering Short Program is a 10-day international program (January 14–23, 2026) designed to inspire future engineers from around the world! Through project-based learning and multicultural teamwork, participants will explore how engineering can drive innovation and social impact.

The program combines project-based learning, company visits, and expert sessions by startup founders from Tohoku University. Participants will experience the full process of innovation—from problem identification and idea generation to prototyping and final pitching in multicultural teams.

Program Fee:
35,000 JPY
The fee covers tuition, cultural & social activities, field trips.
Accommodation is not included

Accomodation:
Two options available:
1. Hotel Green Mark (Single Room): 70,000 JPY
2. On-Campus Dorm (Limited availability, 15 rooms – 5 male/10 female): 40,000 JPY

Check-out date: January 24, 2026 (Sat)
Language: English
A certificate of completion, equivalent to 4 ECTS credits, will be awarded to all successful participants. Please note that this is not an academic credit by Tohoku University, and credit transfer is subject to the home university’s approval.

Eligibility:
– Undergraduate or Graduate students.
– Sufficient ability to communicate in English for lectures and discussions. No official English test score is required.
– Students from any academic discipline are welcome. However, as the program includes laboratory visits and engineering-related activities, a basic knowledge of engineering is desirable.

How to Apply:
To sign up for the program, please prepare the following documents and apply through this form by 6   November 2025:
1. Latest English official academic transcript (with min GPA 2.5/Not SIX)
2. Valid passport

6. Recommendation Letter from Head of Study Program and Academic Supervisor addressed to Director of Directorate of Partnerships ITB (free format)

Nominated students are required to complete the application form by November 10, 2025 (will be sent after students are nominated).
Required documents:
– Academic transcript of current degree program
– CV with a portrait photo
*List all education and employment history from high school enrollment to current enrollment in college or university. Ensure that the dates are provided in month-level detail. Due to the Security Export Control application process, please ensure that there are no gaps in your educational and employment history
– Photocopy of passport (photo and name page)
