Nafi’ah (Civil Engineering) and Izzan (Pharmaceutical Science & Technology) joined the
AUN Summer Camp at Universiti Malaya (24 Aug–6 Sep 2025), with the theme
“Next-Gen for a Sustainable World.”
The program blended education, innovation, and technology to tackle climate change,
biodiversity loss, pollution, and resource use. Through discussions, hands-on workshops,
and real case studies, they explored waste management, urban farming, citizen science,
and how smart technology, the circular economy, and sustainable design can power a greener future.

“For us, the AUN Summer Camp at Universiti Malaya was unforgettable. Learning from inspiring figures, especially those from MRT and Putrajaya Corporation, deepened our understanding of sustainability and how young people can contribute to the goal of net zero through tools like biotechnology, coding, and 3D printing. Most of all, we treasure the friendships, cultural exchange, and new perspectives from peers across Asia that made this experience truly special.”

The most interesting part of the camp was our visit to the UM Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre. We got the chance to explore their Barbados goat farm and biotech lab, which was such a unique experience! We learned how to perform an ultrasound on goats, tried sperm collection for artificial insemination, and even analyzed the samples ourselves.

One of our favorite moments was simply spending time with our friends and buddies after the camp activities! We often went out for dinner together, trying different Malaysian dishes, sightseeing around the city, or just hanging out. We also had two free days where we could explore Malaysia by ourselves or together with others!
