ITB Cultural Day 2026
The ITB Cultural Day is a signature event held every semester, specifically designed for our international community. Whether they are here for a short-term exchange or a full-time degree, all inbound students are invited to immerse themselves in Indonesian heritage. Organized by the Directorate of Partnerships ITB specifically the International Mobility team and supported by the Ganesha Global Society (International Student Buddy 2026). this program aims to foster close relationships between students and the directorate while providing an unforgettable experience during their study in Indonesia.
ITB Cultural Day 2026: A Day of Heritage and Harmony
On May 9th, 2026, the International Relations Office (IRO) courtyard was transformed into a vibrant cultural hub. From 9 AM to 4 PM, students engaged in various activities that showcased the richness of Indonesian traditions.
Formal Opening
The event was officially opened by Dr. Andryanto Rikrik Kusmara, S.Sn., M.Sn., Vice Rector for Communication, Partnership, Alumni, and Administration. His presence emphasized ITB’s commitment to supporting international academic cooperation and cultural exchange.
A Warm Welcome
Lia Amelia Tresna Wulan Asri, Ph.D., Head of Sub-directorate for International Mobility, shared an encouraging message with the students, highlighting how these activities help bridge the gap between different cultures and create a supportive student environment.
The Rhythm of Aceh
The atmosphere was further enlivened by the Aceh Cultural Unit (UKA ITB), who performed the mesmerizing Ratoeh Jaroe dance. Guided by our hosts from the Ganesha Global Society, Sayyid Anfaresi and Sameera Gia, the students then moved into their respective workshop groups.
Cultural Workshops: Batik and Dance
The participants were divided into two interactive groups. One group focused on the art of Batik, where they learned to apply vibrant traditional dyes to pre-patterned fabrics. Meanwhile, the second group took the challenge of learning the synchronized hand movements of the Acehnese dance from the UKA ITB members.
Indonesian Lunch and Folk Games
During the break, everyone enjoyed a variety of local Indonesian dishes. It was also a time for play, as students tried out traditional folk games like Bakiak, Gasing, and Congklak. These simple yet fun activities sparked plenty of laughter and friendly competition among the participants.
Culinary Session: Making Klepon
The afternoon continued with a hands-on cooking session. Guided by the student buddies, everyone learned how to make Klepon traditional green rice balls filled with palm sugar and coated in grated coconut. Each group worked together to master the technique of ensuring the palm sugar stayed inside during the boiling process!
Grand Finale and Awards
To wrap up the day, we celebrated the winners of the Batik coloring competition. The creative energy was carried into the final session with a group karaoke that brought everyone together one last time before the event concluded.
