International Student Orientation SEM 1 AY 2026/2027

BANDUNG, ITB — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) warmly welcomed its new international students through the International Student Orientation 2026. Held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the East Hall (Aula Timur) and its front yard, the event served as a comprehensive introduction to academic life, legal regulations, cultural adaptation, and community building at ITB.

Here is a recap of the full-day orientation program that brought together international students, university officials, buddies, and faculty representatives.

Morning Sessions: Registrations & Formal Welcome

08:15 – 08:30 | Registration & Guest Reception

The orientation kicked off with student registration at the main entrance, managed by the Directorate of Education, Immigration representatives, and the Directorate of SPSI. Campus Ambassadors (Duta Kampus) served as MCs and hosts, welcoming guests at the drop-off area and escorting VIP delegates to their designated seats.

08:30 – 08:40 | Welcoming Speech & Symbolic Reception

The official opening commenced with a warm welcoming speech delivered by Dr. Andryanto Rikrik Kusmara, S.Sn., M.Sn., Vice Rector for Communication, Partnership, Alumni, and Administration. This was followed by a symbolic acceptance ceremony welcoming new international students to the ITB academic family and a group photo session.

Information Sessions & Institutional Guidance

08:40 – 09:00 | Introduction to Bandung & Stay Permits

Lia Amelia Tresna Wulan Asri, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. (Subdirector for International Mobility, Directorate of Partnerships) delivered a key orientation on stay permit regulations, practical do’s and don’ts, local culture in Bandung, and information regarding Indonesian Language (Bahasa Indonesia) classes, concluding with a Q&A session.

09:00 – 09:05 | Ice Breaking

An interactive ice-breaking session led by the Campus Ambassadors refreshed the atmosphere and encouraged spontaneous interaction among international peers.

09:05 – 09:30 | Immigration Guidance Session

To ensure smooth legal stay during their studies, Duwi Riyadi Putra, S.Sos., M.Sc. (Policy Technical Specialist, Class I Immigration Office Bandung) briefed students on Indonesian immigration laws, visa extensions, and ITAS (KITAS) processing procedures, followed by an interactive Q&A session.

09:30 – 09:50 | Academic Systems & Regulations

Nurrohman Wijaya, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Head of Subdirectorate for Educational Monitoring and Evaluation, Directorate of Education) explained essential academic processes, including course registration mechanisms, credit transfers, facilities, and the usage of SIX ITB and EduNex portals.

09:50 – 10:10 | IT Infrastructure & SiX Account Activation

Achmad Imam Kistijantoro, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Deputy Director for Information Systems and Technology) guided students through a practical hands-on simulation for activating and navigating their personal SIX ITB academic portals using their mobile devices.

Exploration, Networking & Faculty Meetings

10:10 – 11:20 | Guided Campus Tour

Students paired up with their assigned ITB Buddies for a 60-minute guided campus tour, exploring historic landmarks, academic facilities, and student hubs around the Ganesha Campus before returning to East Hall.

11:20 – 11:45 | Faculty & School Breakouts

Participants were grouped according to their respective Faculties/Schools (F/S) to meet their department representatives, followed by an introduction and open Q&A about faculty-specific academic life.

11:45 – 13:00 | Lunch Break & Buddy Networking

A relaxed lunch session allowed international students to mingle with senior students, faculty representatives, and buddies, fostering new friendships and casual conversations.

Afternoon Activities: Cultural Games & Closing

13:00 – 15:00 | August 17 Traditional Indonesian Games

To celebrate Indonesian Independence month traditions, participants joined fun traditional team games at the front yard of East Hall. The activities included:

• Bakiak: Giant wooden clogs team race testing group sync.
• Estafet Sarung: Sarong relay without breaking hand contacts.
• Misi Sedotan: Straw relay challenge.
• Makan Kerupuk: Traditional cracker-eating contest.

The fun session ended with score tallying, winner announcements, and commemorative group photos.

15:00 – 15:10 | Closing Ceremony

The official program concluded with express appreciation, closing remarks by the MCs, and a main photo session with all participants.

15:10 – 16:00 | Group Karaoke Session

The day ended on a joyful note with informal group karaoke performances, bringing everyone together for a final sing-along song before departure.
