International Cooperative Graduate Program (ICGP) 2026 National Institute for Materials Science
International Cooperative Graduate Program (ICGP) is to accept graduate students from overseas universities which NIMS concluded the ICGP agreement with. Students can conduct part of their thesis work at NIMS with the co-supervision of NIMS researchers.

Eligibility:
A full-time PhD student
Application Deadline: 9 January 2026
Screening and Interview: January 2026 – February 2026
Announcement of result: Mid-March 2026
Training Start: *from July 2026
NIMS provides the allowance as follows:
– Living Expenses (120,000 JPY per month)
– Accommodation fee
– Utility charges are on student’s expenses
Nomination Process:
To sign up for the program, please prepare the following documents and apply through this form by 1 January 2026:
1.Latest English official academic transcript (bachelor and master transcript) (NOT SIX)
2.Applicants must possess a competent command of spoken and written English, which corresponds to:
a) A TOEIC score of at least 740
b) TOEFL (ITP/iBT/CBT) scores of at least 550/80/213,
c) An IELTS score of at least 5.5,
d) Other English certification that is equal/similar to the above Official Certificate of English Language Proficiency, such as TOEFL or IELTS
3.Valid passport
